Scholarship Fund History The North Stockton Rotary Club is seeking applications for Rotary Scholarships for 2009. The North Stockton Rotary Club is offering a total of six scholarships this year through our Endowed Scholarship Trust Fund. We have three scholarships in the amount of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500) to be awarded to individuals pursuing his/her education in a four-year institution, and are open to high school seniors. The Cliff Dochterman scholarship will be awarded to a student attending UOP. The other two are open to any four year institution. They will be awarded in May. There are also four, five hundred dollar ($500) scholarships for qualified students pursing his/her education in vocational programs. These will go to students in any vocational education certification programs including those at Delta College. All of the above scholarships are awarded on a one time, single school year basis. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must be Stockton residents. Immediate family members of Rotarians are not eligible. The applicants should be planning to attend a vocational program, college, or university in the 2009-2010 academic school year. The awards will be given to those who show the most initiative toward community service. That is, the applicants must indicate they live by the ideals and goals of Rotary – "Service above Self" and community involvement. The scholarships are not based on academic achievement, nor are they based solely on need. The attached sheet defines what is Rotary and the ideals it strives for. Enclosed are our short scholarship application forms. Please feel free to make copies. The completed applications need to be returned to the PO Box address on the application, along with the essay and two letters of reference (for the University awards) by April 15, 2009. If possible please have the students return the applications to you so that you can send all the applications to us in as a group. If you have any questions, please contact the scholarship chairman listed below. Sincerely,
William D. McDonald, DPM Scholarship Chairman, North Stockton Rotary Foundation c/o Valley Podiatry Group, Inc. 3031 W. March Lane, #310 Stockton, CA 95219 209-644-5638
