NSR received the Presidential Citation Award from Rotary international President Ray Klinginsmith for demonstrating Rotarys commitment to fellowship and service.

CLUB SERVICE

         Updated our club brochure to better inform members, potential members
and guests of the activities, programs, opportunities and projects of the
club and Rotary in general.

         Brought back meeting protocols including greeters, wearing of Rotary pins,
members recognitions and appreciations including cogs on duty,
outstanding member service and reciting of the Four Way Test.

         Rotary Minute presentations periodically throughout the year.

         Visioning meetings were held with membership as the focus.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

         Sponsored the annual two-day Cal-Chess State Grade Level Chess
Championships at UOP. Over 300 youths participated with 21 Rotarians
volunteering to run the tournament.

         Donated over 45 Christmas gifts to the Stockton Children's Home.

         Numerous NSR members and family prepared over 1,200 Easter Baskets
which were donated to local seniors.

         NSR gave out 10 college scholarships to local students totaling $8,500

         Donated $1,500 to the families of deployed soldiers.

         NSR members and their families and friends donated 377 hours at the
Stockton Asparagus Festival as a club fundraiser.

         NSR members and their families donated 60 hours at the Riverbank Cheese
and Wine Festival as a club fundraiser.

         Donated $1,125 to Family and Youth Services for youth employment
programs.

Donated 5250 to the UOP Language and Literature Summer Spanish Immersion Program in Guatemala and $500 for medical supplies. NSR made a donation to the Youth Build Program that trains at risk young adults to find employment.

LITERACY

         NSR purchased and delivered over 1,000 dictionaries and thesauruses to
local third graders. Partial funding was obtained from a Rotary District
Simplified Matching Grant as a result of our Rotary International dues.

         NSR again participated in the City-Wide Rotary Read-In at local elementary
schools. Sixty-eight members, their families and friends participated

         NSR donated over 100 hours of reading time at Kennedy Elementary School
and donated over 30 books serving the ESL students of various grades.

         NSR sponsored a 3 member team as this year's Library and Literacy
Foundation Trivia Bee.

         NSR again participated in the Rotary high school speech contest.

         Held the second annual Mardi Gras Fundraiser to support literacy and other
projects.

         A children's book was donated in the name of each speaker at our weekly
meetings throughout the year.

VOCATIONAL SERVICE

         NSR again assisted with the RYLA sending two students to the 3 day
leadership program and supplying 3 counselors.

         NSR has provided members to speak to members of the Rotaract Club at
UOP.

ROTARY FOUNDATION

•    NSR is a Star Club for the third consecutive year with a per member average
donation in annual giving of $153.91. We placed 15th place among the 55
District clubs.  Over $11,000 was raised.

INTERNATIONAL SERVICE

         NSR raised over $10,000 from members to support the wheelchair
distribution project in Costa Rica. Over 280 wheelchairs were distributed
and three members made the trip.

         NSR continued participation in the Seeds of Hope Program providing seeds
to the School Garden Program in Honduras for the sixth year. Two pallets
were shipped totaling 100,000 packets of seed. The First Lady of Honduras
plans to have 2,500 school gardens planted raising enough fresh vegetables
to feed 275,000 children.

         300 packets of seed were sent to District 5110 in Southern Oregon and
Northern California to support 50-75 gardens in needy areas.

         Seeds were provided to the Evelyn's Arms Orphanage in the Democratic
Republic of Congo with the help of Dr. Joyce Hightower. The garden was
dedicated as the Mel and Margaret Hansen Garden.

NEW GENERATIONS SERVICE

         NSR adopted the Primary Years Academy School to provide books,
speakers, and assist with transportation for field trips.

         NSR continues to sponsor the Interact Club at Lincoln High School and their
many noteworthy programs including, Haiti relief, the "Waste Not, Want
Not" unwanted fruit and vegetable program, and the annual blood drive
donating over 100 pints of blood.

         A NSR member housed two students from Germany for 3 weeks as part of
the Rotary Youth Exchange.

         NSR provided the advisor for the UOP Rotaract Program.

MEMBERSHIP/FELLOWSHIP

         NSR held two fellowship mixers this Rotary year, one at the AVE on Pacific
Avenue in October and one at the Gnekow Winery in May.

         NSR held the second annual Christmas Social in December gathering over
40 gifts for the Stockton Children's Shelter.

         The new NSR brochure was completed.

POLIO ERADICATION

         NSR sent $2,000 to Rotary International for the Polio Plus Program. $500
was provided by member Craig Sands and $1,500 from the club.

         NSR participated with the other four clubs from Stockton in the first annual
Rotary 10k/5k Run to raise awareness and funds for Polio Eradication World
Wide.

         The NSR president appeared with the other four Stockton Rotary Presidents
at a City Council meeting in October to receive a proclamation for World
Polio Eradication Day to increase awareness of the Rotary Polio Plus
Project.
