Hurricane Katrina

The District wide project to buy a mobile medical clinic, equip and stock it, and then drive it to the area hit by Hurricane Katrina is a success. PDG David Gallagher and Rotarian Mike Keckler were looking for donations of $20,000 to purchase the vehicle, and then Mike Keckler was going to outfit it. The clubs in District 5220 came up with $30,000 and then Emmanuel Hospital of Turlock decided to donate the mobile clinic. The monies collected will be used for gas and medical supplies to operate the mobile clinic in the area. It will then be donated to a non-profit for use in the area. This is another example of Rotary District 5220 responding to a need in a great way.

Group Study Exchange

The District Group Study Exchange is still in need of one more member. We have extended the deadline to Oct. 1. We need applicants age 25 to 40 who are non-Rotarians (not directly related to a Rotarian), been on their job 2 years to apply. RI President 2007-2008

The nominating committee has selected Donald Osburn of the Rotary Club of Easton, Maryland as RI President 2007-2008. He has served Rotary as RI Director 2000-2002, was aide to RI President Glenn Estess, was a member of the 2005 International Assembly committee, the Chicago Convention Advisory committee, the RI Finance committee, the 2006-2007 RI President nominating committee. His classification is agricultural extension, and is a regional extension director emeritus of the University of Maryland. .
