In Sympathy

It is with sadness that I report the passing of the father of one of our Rotary family members. PDG David Gallagher lost his father last Saturday. Rotary District 5220 expresses our sincere condolences to the family. Rotarian Elliott Fleming, of Manteca Morning Rotary, passed away July 11, 2005; Rotary District 5220 sends our deep sympathy to Mona and the family.

Group Study Exchange Team Leader

The Group Study Exchange Committee interviewed candidates for team leader of the team going to Honduras in February on Saturday, July 9, and choose Anita Stavrianoudakis, a member of Modesto Rotary, as team leader. The applications are available and due by 8/1/2005 for the 4 team members. They must be between 25-40 years of age and on the job at least a year and not directly related to a Rotarian. Spanish is helpful, but some training will be provided. This is a Rotary Foundation Program in which District 5220 has been involved for over forty years. RI President’s Visit

Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar will speak at an intercity Rotary meeting at the Centre Plaza at the Double Tree in Modesto, Thursday, August 11. Tickets are available for $25 each, and each club is to take sign-ups and send a single check made to Rotary District 5220. Send to Modesto Rotary, P. O. Box 672, Modesto, CA 95353. The luncheon will start at 12:00 and a reception for Club Presidents, ADGs, and the District Leadership Team will follow (this is a change, as we were going to have the reception before lunch, but the President’s flight was changed). We also will have RI Board Member Jerry Hall and Tasha as our guests.
