I am
honored to be able to introduce our new District Governor Nominee
Designate Janine McClanahan. She presently serves as Secretary of
Modesto Rotary, and was that club’s first female president. She also
serves on the District Budget and Finance Committee. Please email and
congratulate Janine at

lets show Janine District 5220’s Rotary Pride.
PRIVP Frank C. Collins, Jr. &
Celia
What a
delight to have these two fine Rotarians as President Carl-Wilhelm
Stenhammar’s representatives at last weekend’s District Conference.
Frank brought Carl-Wilhelm’s message, as well as sharing his own
knowledge. I think they enjoyed themselves and I know our Rotary Family
enjoyed them.
Loss in Rotary Family
It is
with sadness that I report the passing of long-time Rotarian Arch
Scheffel, a member of Stockton East Rotary.
2005-2006 District Outstanding
Club
At the
final session on Sunday the Outstanding Club banner was passed from
Stockton Rotary President Dave Tygett to Escalon Sunrise Rotary
President Ray Caparros. Escalon Sunrise had well-rounded projects in all
four Avenues of Service. Great work by one of the smallest clubs in the
District.
Modesto Gateway
Modesto Gateway Rotary has changed their meeting location to Appetez
Restaurant. They meet on Mondays at noon.
Dan Miller a Hit
Our
opening speaker at the District Conference was a Hugh hit. Dan was
stricken with polio just out of high school. He decided not to be a
cripple, and ended up being a PE instructor, private pilot, golfer,
principal, and now is a speaker. He brought copies of a book he wrote
and they all sold out. Dan delivered a terrific message on attitude.
PDG Miguel Morazon
PDG
Miguel Morazon, and Ana Cristina from Tegucigalpa, Honduras were also
with us at the District Conference. Miguel showed a video highlighting
the work being done in Honduras with a 3H Grant from The Rotary
Foundation.
Super Hero
Stockton Rotary’s Rotaryman, Michael Keith, was selected as “Rotary
Pride” individual of the year. The people who attended the District
Conference and had a chance to get by the Stockton Rotary hospitality
suite, had a chance to meet him, and get an autographed photo of him. I
had the honor of having Rotaryman introduce me on my official visit to
Stockton Rotary.
