ROTARY DISTRICT 5220 FRIDAY FACTS

District Conference Registration

The deadline for discounted registration is coming up at the end of the calendar

year. To register, go to www.rotary5220.org and click on the registration icon to

download the registration forms for the conference and the hotel. You don’t want

to miss this fun annual event, and I was just informed that our dueling hospitality

suites are up to 14 clubs.

Ceres Rotary

Ceres Rotary dedicated a new scholarship in the name of Sgt. Howard

Stevenson of the Ceres Police Department. Sgt. Stevenson was a hero who died

January 9, 2005 in the line of duty. Ten police officers and the widow and

daughter of Sgt. Stevenson along with me, and the press, were present at the

dedication at a Club meeting Dec. 16. We are proud of Ceres Rotary for this

terrific Community Service project.

Los Banos Rotary

Los Banos Rotary president Pete has advised me that their club is sending

donations to The Rotary Foundation annual programs fund totaling $7,200 which

is over $200 per capita giving. This with one half of the Rotary year remaining.

Thanks to the members of Los Banos Rotary for their strong support of The

Rotary Foundation.

Michelle Allison Christmas CD

Michelle Allison, Rotarian from the Merced Sunrise Rotary Club, has sung for us

at District Events and PETS. She has just completed a Christmas CD, which is

on sale for $15. Call Michelle at 209-358-6220 to order and send checks to

Michelle at P.O. Box 544, Atwater, CA 95301. Michelle is scheduled to sing for

us at the District Conference at Tenaya Lodge this coming April 28-30.

New Communication Tool

Every quarter, Rotary International President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar will sign

a letter sent to all new Rotarians, with information about getting involved in

added to the Club database on the RI website.

Membership Matters #4

By Susan Drake

Do you know a young professional? Bring him or her to a meeting or better yet,

create a list and bring a group of young professionals to a meeting. Make your

program one that is of interest to them. Then recruit, recruit!

Has your club sponsored Ambassadorial scholars and/or Group Study Exchange

Teams? Have they returned to your area? Remember you gave them a

wonderful opportunity. Give them another by creating a Foundation Alumni

committee and keep track of these potential members. Invite them to your

meetings and recruit, recruit!

For more information you can contact 5220 Membership Co-Chairs Susan

Drake (209-472-9662) susanjdrake@sbcglobal.net or Terry Hull (209-644-

6412) thullsr@pmerents.com

Mark Oliver, District Governor
