2007 Convention is Moved to Salt Lake City
The 2007 Rotary International Convention has been moved from New Orleans to Salt Lake City. New Orleans then will receive the Convention in 2011; the year Salt Lake City was scheduled to host the Convention. The Rotary International board of directors decided to make the switch to give New Orleans time to recover from Hurricane Katrina. Salt Lake City last hosted the Rotary International Convention in 1919 eight years after the Rotary Club of Salt Lake City was chartered.

Rotary in 170 Countries
With the Rotary International Board of Directors action, two countries have joined the Rotary family. China and Cuba are the two countries that were approved for chartering clubs. These additions brings the total number of countries Rotary is in to 170.

Membership Matters
Have you invited anyone to a Rotary meeting? As we move into the second half of this Rotary year, it is important that we continue to maintain our personal enthusiasm for our work in the area of membership. Look around your community. Many times that potential member is right in front of us, too close for us to see, the hotel catering manager, neighbors, co-workers, your partner or spouse. Finding ways to share Rotary at regular meetings, socials and community projects will ensure the continued viability of Rotary and its mission.
