District Conference

The next celebration in District 5220 is our District Conference coming up April 28-30 at the beautiful Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite. PRIVP Frank C. Collins Jr. is going to serve as President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar’s representative. We also will have as our special guests RID Jerry Hall and Tasha from Reno, Nevada. We will continue our dueling hospitality suites and we already have 13 clubs committed to participate. This year we will have an optional tour of Yosemite National Park on Friday the 28th. We promise to have great fellowship and interesting Rotary information, as well as our annual business meeting. You are still able to register at a discounted rate and the forms can be downloaded at http://www.rotary5220.org/Calendar/conference.htm don’t miss a fun celebration of the wonderful work our clubs are doing.

Foundation Dinner

Our District celebrated our involvement with and support of The Rotary Foundation with our annual Foundation Dinner Friday night. It is the big celebration of the first half of our Rotary year. We had a great turnout of nearly 500 people. The event, with the raffle tickets and silent auction, netted $160,000 for The Rotary Foundation. Trustee Carolyn Jones was our guest speaker and she did a terrific job. With her speech, it means we have had the top ranking man, President Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar, and top ranking woman, Trustee Carolyn Jones, of Rotary as speakers in our District this Rotary year. Foundation Dinner chair Terri Amerio-Bell and the other volunteers did a magnificent job, and I thank them.

Permanent Fund

Permanent Fund of The Rotary Foundation District sub-committee chair Jim Woodward of Stockton Rotary asks that all Rotarians remember The Rotary Foundation in their estate planning. The Fund is an endowment and stays in The Rotary Foundation to ensure funds for future programs. In addition to the estate planning, Rotarians can also designate their contribution go to the Permanent Fund.
